Guten tag,

I'm one of the other ride organizers, Mark 👋 Wanted to send out a brief intro and some short notice plans for a ride tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

Originally from Hamilton, raised in Windsor, went to University there, moved to Ottawa for work in 2019 and have been enjoying the amazing biking and outdoor activities this area has to offer ever since. When it's not cycling season I tend to do a lot of downhill skiing at Tremblant and elsewhere ⛷️

This will be my third season riding and exploring with Matt on these group rides. Stoked he's setup this platform to organize through! And he's given me the keys to the kingdom — Gravel Crypto Coin launch in your inboxes soon! JK! But for real, I'll try to share routes I plan a few days in advance but might send them out on short notice if the weather looks good (Like this). Might also re-run some of my favourite routes (Like this one, so no worries if you don't make the short notice) pretty regularly if people don't mind repeats. Has been great seeing so many fresh faces on the rides already this year and we look forward to meeting more!

I'll also be helping Matt out with the Terry Fox Ride again this year so highly recommend you sign up and join us in July for some or all of the ride!

Now onto the route:

Centretown Gravel Ride - May 10th

(Open the post in your browser rather than your mobile email app to see the Ride With GPS route link)

Start Time 3pm (departure max 3:05!)
Start Point Major's Hill Park
Distance 42km
Terrain 25% Gravel
Difficulty Moderately hard, some short steep hills, some fast gravel downhills
Estimated Duration 2 1/2 hours
End Point Corktown Foot Bridge
Event Link Google Calendar

This ride goes around Lac Leamy cause I'm pretty sure it's flooded, up into Gatineau Park, peaks at the 15-25 trail loop, then back down through various fun areas on the way out. There's also some possibility to extend around Pink Lake or add more flats at Experimental Farm depending on the group. The route is merely a suggestion 🍃

See you out there,

Mark
